The future's bright ~ the future's smoke-free!

A recent poll of 1142 students by the National College of Legal Training has shown some surprising results about how students today are considerably more conservative than their predecessors from the 1960s and 1970s. I've no intention of reporting all their responses - a newspaper summary is here - but an interesting fact is that 90% of those surveyed would not repeal the smoking ban in pubs.

These are the future drinkers. Whether you like it or not, this is the way it's going to be.

  1. It will be interesting to see in ten years' time how many would want to repeal the ban on drinking alcohol in pubs :P

  2. Nice to see you here again, Curmudgeon ~ it's been a while. I think the extremely healthy sales in the taxpayer-subsidised bars in the Palace of Westminster would indicate that that prospect is rather unlikely.

Over 300 MPs and peers of all parties are members of the All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group and around 60 UK MEPs are honorary members. It's the largest industry group at Westminster.
